The Quezon City government is taking steps to improve cyclist safety by installing concrete plant boxes alongside bike lanes throughout the city. This initiative aims to provide protection for cyclists as they navigate the roads while maintaining urban aesthetics. The concrete plant boxes are already installed along major roads like Katipunan Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue.

In line with this initiative, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has also pledged to introduce more protected bike lanes and pedestrian pathways for QCitizens this 2024. They expressed their full support for active mobility and alternative transportation, emphasizing their role in reducing carbon footprint and potentially mitigating climate change.
During the third edition of the Mobility Awards 2023, Quezon City was awarded as the Most Bicycle-Friendly City in the Philippines, securing the Gold Award for the first time. Then alongside QC, Iloilo and Baguio were also recognized as bike-friendly cities in the country.
But despite the recognition, the Green Transport Office still urges the public to support the new initiative by refraining from damaging or vandalizing the new plant boxes.
