President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. spearheaded the inauguration of the Lake Mainit Hydroelectric Power Plant in Jabonga, Agusan del Norte, boasting a capacity of 24.9 megawatts.
He said that the power plant is projected to benefit approximately 45,000 households and create socio-economic prospects for residents not only in Agusan del Norte, but also all throughout Mindanao.
The recently inaugurated hydroelectric power plant will supply a total of 100,871 megawatts of clean and cost-effective energy.
The President expressed his optimism that the new power plant will have a positive environmental impact, as it will play a crucial role in diminishing the carbon footprint and will help enhance air quality.
He stated, “I call once again on our private sector partners to join us as we realize our goal of advancing affordable, reliable, and clean energy for the benefit of our people.”
He also reassured that “the government will continue to improve bureaucratic processes in the energy sector to make it easier for investors to come in.”
Referring to the venture as a crucial move towards ensuring energy stability in the region, the President commended the combined efforts of Markham Resources and J-POWER Group, representing both the Philippines and Japan, for successfully implementing the project.
