Pasig City Funds P1,500 Transport Allowance for K-12 Students

Pasig City’s local government, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), has launched an initiative to provide a transportation allowance of P1,500 to support K-12 public school students and their parents.

Mayor Vico Sotto announced in a social media post that the giving out of transportation allowance will take place between September 6 to September 15, 2023.

Alongside this, he mentioned that the distribution of free school supplies is progressing as planned, although he couldn’t provide an exact date because of unexpected issues.

Sotto also emphasized his understanding of the concerns of parents and students regarding the expenses during the start of every school year, and asked for more patience from citizens of Pasig, saying: “Ako po ay humihingi ng inyong pasensya. First time lang din natin ito; maasahan niyo na sa susunod na school year ay mas aagahan namin ang timeline… Alam kong maraming gastusin pag magpapasukan, kaya sana makabawi ako sa inyo kahit papaano sa pamamagitan ng nasabing cash allowance.”

At the same time, he was also delighted to announce that the delivery and distribution of the initial phase of the “Malusog na Batang Pasigueno” or MBP program remained on schedule.

This is a nutrition program, an initiative of the local government of Pasig aimed at ensuring that public school students have access to healthy meals both in school and at home while they study and learn.
