Thanks to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Manila North Road (MNR) in Angeles City, Pampanga, has been transformed into a significantly improved and safer road network, providing travelers with a more efficient and secure journey.
There are two segments of the preventative maintenance project, costing P202.46 million.
According to DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineer Arnold Ocampo, the first segment includes applying a 1.85-kilometer asphalt overlay to the six-lane road, stretching from barangay Sto. Domingo to barangay Sto. Cristo. While the second segment covers a 1.35-kilometer asphalt resurfacing on the road’s four-lane layout, spanning from barangay Sto. Domingo to barangay Sto. Rosario.
An interesting feature of this project is the installation of solar-powered studs along the road by DPWH Regional Office III. These studs light up at night, aiding motorists and improving visibility, especially in low-light conditions, contributing significantly to road safety.
The project also includes applying thermoplastic pavement markings on the road surface, which further enhances visibility, especially during inclement weather conditions.
